EAGLE® Soars to Preserve Ecosystem

Preserving the environment now is as important to EAGLE as making a better window and door for the future. In doing so, EAGLE Window & Door purchases wood from suppliers that rely on sound reforestation practices. The company also uses engineered products whenever possible which helps facilitate the use of new-growth timber, reduces waste, and extends the life of the world’s native, old-growth forests. EAGLE also respects the environment by:

• Using Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) as the sole framing material for its windows. LVL is solid, highly predictable, and a uniform engineered wood product that is sawn to consistent sizes and is virtually free from warping and splitting. Another important benefit to LVL is that the veneering and gluing process enables the end-product to be made from relatively small trees from several species which provides for efficient utilization of wood fiber resources.

• Utilizing finger-jointed materials in the frame-up of doors and in the frame of the EAGLE Wood™ window line. This takes advantage of cutaways and trimmed lumber while at the same time adding strength to the product.

• Employing the use of laminated door stiles rather than using valuable wood solids.

• Placing energy-efficient Low-E Maximizer Plus® glass as a standard in all their windows. This glass blocks up to 84% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays in the summer and reflects roomside heat back into the home in winter; a process which lowers energy consumption throughout the year.

• Installing every window and door with high performance, compression bulb weatherstripping to lower energy consumption.

• Not using old-growth lumber.

• Using water-based wood primers, topcoats, and polyurethanes.

• Using a state-of-the-art, electrostatic paint system on the aluminum extrusions which allows for efficient paint transfer.

• Utilizing paint filters that are rated 99% efficient.

• Offering a Tilt-Pac sash replacement kit which, in the correct application, eliminates the need to replace an entire window.

In addition, EAGLE products are Hallmark Certified by the Window & Door Manufacturers of America (WDMA) and are certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) as meeting high standards of energy efficient performance.

EAGLE Window & Door also recycles many waste and scrap products, including: cardboard, office paper, solvents, aluminum, glass, and wood fiber.
